As People reports, Williams spoke to Hunter Kelly on Apple Music's Proud Radio With Hunter Kelly podcast, where he revealed that he had previously planned to address his sexuality in a video for another tune that did not come to go by. The directors of his new video felt strongly that including the touch would help say the authentic story of his life.
"At first I caring of thought that, 'I'm tackling something else with this.' And I consideration that maybe that's for another project," Williams states. "But again, I felt like I was promoting invisibility, favor I wasn't creature visible and wasn't being myself. And I just idea it was the perfect opportunity to just show who I was."

The craggy-voiced Shelton Hank Williams III sounds old and tired beyond his years. Endless touring and 2 1/2 –hour shows every nighttime will probably do that to you. He’s also one of the few well-known country musicians making music worth listening to and that isn’t the identical old rehash of Bible Belt morals and vapid love stories. Of course, it’s earned him a bit of a reputation in his hometown, country tune capitol Nashville. Industry giant Curb Records signed him before attempting almost immediately to neuter him and make him safe for the CMT crowd. Every write down he’s released has been an epic struggle to get things done his way. And, by and large, he’s been right. As Curb has backed off, his albums have been getting better and better, especially this year’s killer Straight to Hell. Even so, the label won’t put a record by his thrash-metal band Assjack, nor will they allow any other label to release it.
