MichelleRodriguezhopes her decision to come out publicly has had an impact on others who might be struggling with their sexuality.
On Saturday, May 10, the "Fast & Furious" star attended the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's annual An Evening With Women event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. The nighttime was organized by 4 Non Blondes' Linda Perry, who asked Rodriguez to join this year and DJ the afterparty.
"''I'm not big on people's opinions, you know? Unless it's somebody I really respect. I don't protect what people out there have to say," she told Gay Star News about what has changed since coming out. "But I do realize the importance of having the bravery to live as who you are and I feel love a lot of people don't possess that bravery. Maybe by me opening my big overweight mouth like I usually do and stepping up and owning who I am, maybe it might inspire somebody else to perform the same."
The actress came out as bisexual last October during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"I've gone both ways. I complete as I please. I am too f**king curious to sit here and not try when I can," she said at the time. "Men are intriguing. So are chicks."

Michelle Rodriguez Is Glad She Went Public About Her Relationship With Cara Delevinge
A lot of moment has passed since Cara Delevingne and Michelle Rodriguez were last spotted together in public– we’re putting it at over a month, which, trust us, is a long time in sapphic relationships. But hearing how Michelle, who was infamously really cagey about her sexuality before coming out as bisexual last year, has spoken about how the attention the relationship received (or is getting?) is a positive development.
When asked about her bisexuality at an LGBT charity event – the first time she’s ever attended an official LGBT event – last week, she replied: ‘It’s cool man, I mean, whatever. I’m not massive on people’s opinions, you know? Unless it’s somebody I really respect. I don’t care what people out there have to say.’
So far, so dismissive. But then, importantly, according to Gay Star News, she added: ‘But I do realise the importance of having the bravery to live as who you are and I feel like a lot of people don’t possess that bravery. Maybe by me opening my big fat mouth like I usually do and stepping up and owning who I am, it might uplift somebody else to do the same.’

Jada Pinkett Smith Talks Modern "Red Table Talk" Series
The Estefans have no challenge cutting right to the chase.
On Wednesday, Oct. 7, Latinx pop icon Gloria Estefanfollowed in the footsteps of Jada Pinkett Smith and premiered Red Table Talk: The Estefans, a buzzy new spinoff display that finds her getting real, real fast. In the new series, the Estefan matriarch is joined by two co-hosts she's familiar with: Her and husband Emilio Estefan's 25-year-old daughter Emily, an LGBTQ+ musician, and 53-year-old Lili Estefan, her niece and the longtime host of Univision's El Gordo y la Flaca.
For their second episode, the trio is gearing up to address another complicated topic: sexuality. As Estefan fans might perceive, Emily came out as queer several years ago and inspired conversations about sexuality in her family. In an exclusive preview of the Wednesday, Oct. 14 episode, the Estefans are joined by Fast and the Furious alum Michelle Rodriguezand former discuss show host Rosie O'Donnell, two unapologetically queer stars.
