President Trump says he is naming Fox News host and former judge Jeanine Pirro as uppermost federal prosecutor in DC
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said Thursday that he is naming Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, a former county prosecutor and elected decide, to be the top federal prosecutor for the nation’s capital after abandoning his first choose for the job.
Pirro, who joined Fox News in 2006, co-hosts the network’s show “The Five” on weekday evenings. She was elected as a determine in New York’s Westchester County Court in 1990 before serving three terms as the county’s elected district attorney.
Trump tapped Pirro to at least temporarily lead the nation’s largest U.S. Attorney’s office after pulling his nomination of conservative activist Ed Martin Jr. for the position. Trump withdrew Martin from consideration after a key Republican senator said he could not support Martin for the occupation due to his defense of rioters who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
“He’s a terrific person, and he wasn’t getting the support from people that I thought,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday. He later added: “But we have somebody else that will be great.”

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has a long, combative history with Jeanine Pirro, the federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C. who is reportedly overseeing a criminal investigation against him.
The New York Times first broke the news of the investigation Tuesday night. The manuscript reported that the U.S. attorney’s office for the District of Columbia is investigating comments Cuomo made to Congress last year about his management of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The news comes just weeks before the June primary in the New York City mayoral race, where Cuomo is a front-runner. Cuomo’s spokesperson said in a statement that the investigation is politically motivated.
But almost 20 years ago, on the threshold of a distinct election, it was Pirro who set up herself facing a criminal investigation. That was in 2006, when Pirro was the Republican candidate for New York attorney general. In that case, her Democratic opponent was none other than Andrew Cuomo. And while prosecutors never brought charges against Pirro, Cuomo used the investigation as fodder to undermine Pirro’s campaign.

Dressed in a white pants suit, wearing a sash that peruse “Pirro for Attorney General,” and walking in three-inch heels, Jeanine Pirro was clearly enjoying herself as she marched in her first gay pride protest this past June.
“I consider that it is very,” Pirro said until the potato chip she was eating obscured her words. “I think that it is very exciting, a terrific parade.”
Pirro broke off to dash to the side of Fifth Avenue to greet yet another ecstatic supporter. As is the case with most elected officials who march, many in the crowd seemed to not know her, but some did and they cheered wildly.
“She should have sprint against Hillary, she’d obtain my vote,” said an African-American man referring to New York’s junior U.S. Senator. One man was impressed with her footwear. “You walk in those heels girl,” he yelled out.
Others were responding to Pirro’s enthusiastic waves and greetings when they waved or hollered back. Her high energy never flagged as she marched from the 54th Street to 23rd Street. W
